Chant4Life
An experiential educational program led by Bill Polits, bringing together overtone chanting, community singing, and contemplative practices to cultivate awareness, self-discovery, and human connection.
Through breath, vocal sound, and attentive listening, participants discover the remarkable harmonics within their own voices. This exploration begins as an active meditation practice and extends into shared singing, geometry, and reflection—inviting new ways of perceiving ourselves, relating to others, and discovering possibilities for change.
Overtone Chanting
Overtone chanting brings breath, vocal sound, and attentive listening together as an active meditation practice. Learning to distinguish the harmonics within one's own voice reveals beauty, complexity, and order in a familiar sound—and invites a larger question: what else might we discover beyond the boundaries of habitual perception?
Community Singing & Connection
Community singing carries this exploration from the individual into shared experience. Singing together coordinates sound and attention, inviting each participant to contribute a distinct voice to a collective whole. It offers a direct practice of listening, cooperation, belonging, and meaningful connection.
Geometry & Interconnectedness
R. Buckminster Fuller's synergetic geometry provides another foundation for Chant4Life. Through drawing and building simple geometric models participants explore the relationships through which complex forms emerge.
For Bill, these patterns express the interconnectedness of existence. Geometry makes relationships visible; overtones make them audible; group singing makes them participatory.
Reflection & Transformation
HeartMath-informed breathing and emotional-awareness practices offer complementary tools for self-regulation and cultivating awareness.
Ancestral connection is another dimension of Chant4Life. In Bill's understanding, tuning with overtones can open awareness to timeless dimensions of experience, where conventional distinctions between past and present dissolve. Within this experience, the ancestral continuum—from recent generations to the most distant reaches of our lineage—becomes accessible for exploration.
This work invites participants to experience a deeper connection across generations, honor what has come before, recognize and release inherited patterns that no longer serve them, and discover new possibilities for awareness, freedom, and transformation in their lives.
Workshops & Immersions
Chant4Life offers experiential learning through private lessons, 90-minute introductions, half-day and full-day workshops, and three-day immersion retreats.
Private lessons provide individualized instruction in overtone chanting, attentive listening, and vocal exploration, tailored to each participant's experience, interests, and goals.
Group workshops combine vocal exploration, community singing, and opportunities for reflection and connection. Longer programs allow participants to engage more deeply with geometry and complementary contemplative practices.
Chant4Life welcomes people at all stages of life, particularly those navigating significant transitions—from coming of age in the late teens and early adulthood to career changes, midlife, and retirement. Participants may be seeking renewed purpose, authentic expression, greater freedom from habitual patterns, and deeper connection with themselves and others.
No prior musical or singing experience is necessary.
